        Early Childhood Caries - find your target and act fast.

        Dr Marina Papachroni Dental Caries in pre-school children has been described by numerous terms and attributed to many aetiologies over years. Tertiary prevention for Early Childhood Caries (ECC) can involve both non-invasive and invasive preventive management in case of cavitated dentine lesions. In this lecture we are going to analyse the prevention approaches and the restorative management in order to prevent further tooth breakdown, pain or pulp exposure. How we can arrest ECC lesions? How we can avoid cross-infection? Which are the risk factors? In contrast to treatment in adults, pediatric dentistry has to consider factors such as age, cognitive development, pain perception and ability to describe it, child´s and parents´ cooperation, type of treatment etc. All these mentioned factors play an important role in the selection of dental treatment which much be mainly, children-centred.

        Molar Incisor Hypomineralization – How can we diagnose and treat children with chalk teeth?

        Molar incisor hypomineralization (MIH) is a frequently encountered dental condition worldwide. It is defined as hypomineralization of systemic origin of one to four permanent first molars frequently associated with affected incisors. Depending on the severity, the condition can be associated with dental complications including rapid wear, enamel loss, increased susceptibility to caries, loss of fillings, and most of all, severe hypersensitivity often resulting in severe discomfort. Affected children should be diagnosed as early as possible and should be offered a treatment that is appropriate to the severity of the condition. 

        This lecture aims to highlight different aspects related to MIH, from its etiology, diagnosis and classification to current treatment options.

        Emergency cases in pediatric dentistry.

        The purpose of this lecture is to provide an overview of the most common dental emergencies we may encounter in our daily practice, as well as the steps you should take to resolve the problem and obtain the best possible outcome. Pediatric dentists and general dentists encounter several clinical situations every day. Additionally, it is important that the dentist has the knowledge necessary to make quick decisions, especially in the case of children. The patient's pain and anxiety should be treated at an early stage. Therefore, the patient's cooperation is essential to carry out dental treatment, regardless of whether the patient is a child, teenager or adult. Our main goal is to provide high-quality dental treatment. Most emergencies are endodontic or traumatic in nature. Diagnosing various clinical situations, distinguishing them immediately and determining the degree of urgency of treatment is of the utmost importance. The doctor will quickly make an accurate diagnosis, control the pain, and perform the appropriate therapeutic procedure: apply appropriate treatment or prescribe a prescription.
